As a rewards-based credit card that is always on the side of the customer, Yonder knew they wanted to surprise and delight the nation for their expansion across the UK. With the 2024 Euros on the horizon, we saw the perfect opportunity to turn inevitable pint-related tragedies into something much bigger. The result? Pint Protection™, the world’s first policy covering football-related spills, valid for any drink… even milk.

When England defeated Sweden in the 2018 World Cup quarter-finals, more than 100,000 pints were infamously dropped in elation. With the Euros fast approaching, Yonder stepped in to have the nation’s back, offering fans a way to claim back their spilled drinks with the world’s first Pint Protection™.

Inspired by hilariously bad 90s corporate aesthetics, we created a lo-fi, over-the-top 30” spot featuring exaggerated performances, infomercial-style graphics, a synth-heavy soundtrack, and a brilliantly self-aware voiceover. To enable fans to submit claims for their spills, we extended the motion language and design aesthetic by creating an intuitive website where they could compose a compelling sob story and upload any proof of damages. Every part of the campaign, from concept to motion to development, was crafted at pace in-house at Phantom and supported by Yonder’s incredible marketing team.

Highlights – A viral hit that blurred the line between too good to be true and irresistible, Pint Protection™ was hilarious, relevant, and perfectly on-brand. The campaign drove huge engagement, making Yonder’s national expansion unmissable and proving that sometimes the best ideas start with spilled pints.
