Explore the ancient ‘rose-red’ city of Petra in Virtual Reality
After the success of Mont Blanc, we teamed up once again with Google to create an exciting VR experience for Petra, Jordan, a UNESCO Heritage Site.
The whole Phantom team was itching to build on what we had learnt when working on Mont Blanc, and Petra VR gave us that chance. Building on the technology used for Mont Blanc and with the recent advances in Web VR we were able to make improvements across all aspects of the experience. This included utilising higher resolution 360 images, user experience improvements, performance and more.

The live experience includes six of Petra’s most incredible scenes for users to explore. We immersed the user using audio narration, sounds effects and interactive hotspots, allowing them to “follow the footsteps of the ancient Nabataeans”.
This VR experience is one of several Google ventures to celebrate Petra and make this historic city accessible to everyone. It’s complemented by a desktop virtual tour where you can discover more about the 'rose-red' city.Go to the site
